Nigel, a 9-year-old giraffe, will leave the zoo at the end of this month, Scott Mitchell, Erie Zoological Society president and CEO, said on Thursday.
Nigel is leaving Erie for a zoo in the Midwest, Mitchell said. As part of the Erie Zoo’s $10 million capital campaign, Wild Open Spaces, it plans to make a larger and more interactive giraffe exhibit with a herd of giraffes, he explained.
The Erie Zoo will be closing at 3pm on Saturday October 5th to get ready for our Lions, Tigers & Beers fundraiser.
